Designing Written Assessment for Student Learning, College

The Designing Written Assessment for Student Learning advocates the idea that the major purpose of assessment is to further guide and help learners in their difficulties and not simply to determine who are better and the not-so-good learners.

The book claims to be the first—

  • to give the history of assessment in the Philippines
  • to include a software that facilitates learning in analyzing test data
  • to provide relevant studies on the empirical nature of the field of educational assessment
  • to discuss the revised Bloom’s taxonomy and all the other alternative taxonomies of skills

The Analysis of Test Data Software allows the students to input, process, and view results of tests to be further interpreted and to make necessary descriptions and inferences about the test items and the test as a whole. A student required to construct a test can measure if it is valid or reliable using the software.
